ACI researchers have made great strides in understanding complex human diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Sjögren’s syndrome, and sarcoidosis and have identified potential new areas for targeted disease treatment. However, more research is needed to more fully understand the complexities of these diseases and is on-going.
Currently, there are clinical trials for SLE and RA that are actively enrolling subjects in order to help understand how these diseases develop and can be prevented. The unique individual contributions of enrolled subjects are crucial to the success of these studies.
