Through NIH infrastructure funds, NIH grants and institutional funds, the ACI Biorepository has greatly expanded and updated the physical infrastructure available to support the Biorepository mission. The current infrastructure includes:
Laboratory Space: Over 2,000 sq. ft. laboratory support space, including space dedicated to logistics of sample receiving/shipping, BSL-2 level tissue culture space and bio-safety containment centrifuges, controlled rate cryostorage equipment, nucleic acid isolation/QC equipment in dedicated “Pre-PCR” space, with point-of-use workstations, bar-code printers, scanners for data entry into ADIDS during the sample processing workflows.
Mechanical Cryostorage:
1.Over 2,500 cu. ft. -80˚C, fully racked, triple-redundant mechanical and liquid nitrogen cooling systems, storage vaults in a highly secured (key-card access, monitored) facility.
2.Over 7,000 cu. ft. -20˚C, fully racked, double-redundant mechanical cooling with 24/7 emergency business continuity contingency agreements with local cold-storage/trucking company for on-site freezer trucks if needed.
Liquid Nitrogen Freezer Cryostorage Suite: Capacity for over 220,000 vials of viable cells/tissue, expandable to over 750,000 vials. Suite is highly secured with monitored key-card access, oxygen monitors and back-up LN2 is on-site.
